2009 Sauvignon Blanc |
 |
Fruit for this wine was hand picked in two separate parcels from our most elevated block. The two parcels were fermented separately and then blended to give a wine of greater complexity. The bouquet displays fresh varietal characters of lychees, gooseberries and a hint of cut grass while the palate abounds with tropical fruit characters. Crisp natural acidity makes it perfect for a wide range of foods or simply sipped lightly chilled as an aperitif.

2009 Pinot Gris |
 |
Fruit from our oldest, low yielding, Pinot Gris vines was harvested by hand in the first week of March when the flavours were at their peak. The 2009 Pinot Gris displays elegant rose petals and musk on the nose while the palate is full bodied and abounds with pear fruit and melon characters. Partial barrel fermentation and lees contact has added extra complexity and richness to the palate. This is an excellent food wine, well suited to fish, poultry and Asian dishes.

Our winemaker, Matthew Carter, has extensive experience both in Australia and overseas and his primary aim is to grow the best possible fruit in the first place. Over a number of years he has changed or modified a number of vineyard blocks in the quest for better and better fruit. His vineyard practices vary from variety to variety, block to block.
In the Winery Matt likes to let the fruit express itself without too much interference. To ensure our high quality and standards are met, all winemaking and bottling is conducted on site. He only uses the finest quality French oak and the proportion of new to seasoned varies depending upon the season and the variety. From the 2006 vintage all Bulong wines are bottled under screw cap.
