    2010 Sauvignon Blanc NEW RELEASE!

    Sav Blanc Label
It is different to the 2009 (which is the great thing about a single vineyard wine!) but is it as good? Yes it is. With tropical fruit characters on the nose and palate that are not as overt as the '09. It has a great varietal bouquet, citrus, herbs and palate length and structure that will ensure it stays fresh and lively for a number of years.
    Price:
    $19.00 per bottle
    $228.00 per dozen
    2009 Pinot Gris
    Pinot Gris Label

Fruit from our oldest, low yielding, Pinot Gris vines was harvested by hand in the first week of March when the flavours were at their peak. The 2009 Pinot Gris displays elegant rose petals and musk on the nose while the palate is full bodied and abounds with pear fruit and melon characters. Partial barrel fermentation and lees contact has added extra complexity and richness to the palate. This is an excellent food wine, well suited to fish, poultry and Asian dishes.

    Price:
    $21.00 per bottle
    $240.00 per dozen
    2009 Chardonnay
    Chardonnay Label

Fruit for our 2009 Chardonnay was hand picked in the middle of March with flavours at their optimum.  This Chardonnay is made from a combination of French clones ensuring these flavours are reached with excellent natural acidity, giving the wine structure to cellar for a number of years.  There are aromas of melons, nuts and figs on the palate while barrel fermentation, lees stirring and a combination of new and seasoned French oak add further complexity.  This wine is an excellent partner to a wide range of cuisines.

    Price:
    $24.00 per bottle

    $276.00 per dozen

Our winemaker, Matthew Carter, has extensive experience both in Australia and overseas and his primary aim is to grow the best possible fruit in the first place. Over a number of years he has changed or modified a number of vineyard blocks in the quest for better and better fruit. His vineyard practices vary from variety to variety, block to block.

In the Winery Matt likes to let the fruit express itself without too much interference. To ensure our high quality and standards are met, all wine making and bottling is conducted on site. He only uses the finest quality French oak and the proportion of new to seasoned varies depending upon the season and the variety. From the 2006 vintage all Bulong wines are bottled under screw cap.

    2008 Pinot Noir SOLD OUT

The 2008 season featured very warm days and cold nights. This resulted in rich, ripe Pinot Noir fruit with a strong natural acid backbone. The resulting wine displays classical varietal characters of cherries, violets and black currents. It finishes long with a subtle and well integrated background of fine French oak. This wine is suited to a wide range of cuisines, especially pasta dishes and roast duck.

    2008 Cabernet Franc NEW RELEASE!
    Pinot Noir Label

Our Cabernet Franc wines have always been very drinkable from a young age (with the exception of the 2006 Reserve which has taken some time to settle down). The 2008 is certainly a drink now wine. It is made predominantly from the original five rows planted in 2996, with some of our "K" block blended in. The flavour ripeness came on late in 2008 which has resulted in a wine of higher than usual alcohol. It has violets and a slight leafiness on the nose while the palate is complex with brambles, cedar and dusty tannins dominating. Like the merlot, clean acid provides the frame work. it is best suited to immediate consumption of short term cellaring.

    $24.00 per bottle
    $276 per dozen
    2008 Merlot NEW RELEASE!
    Merlot Label

One aspect I have learnt about the Merlots I have made up to the 2008 vintage is that they need some time in the bottle to really show their best. The 2005 Merlot is a great case in point, really only hitting its straps in the past year. The 2008 Merlot is a very different wine in this respect, being totally approachable now, only six months after bottling. The 2008 vintage was the warmest I have experienced in the Yarra Valley and the Merlot certainly reflects this. It is a big rich wine, with plums slight chocolate notes, black currents and a certain earthiness about the nose and palate. The dusty tannins and clean acid finish the wine beautifully ensuring that while drinking superbly now it will keep in the short to medium term.

    Price:
    $24.00 per bottle
    $276.00 per dozen
    2006 Cabernets

    Cabernet Label

The 2006 Cabernets is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and is the first Cabernets made by Bulong Estate. The 2006 growing season was ideal for the growing of these varieties and the wine is highlighted by blackberry, cherry and plum fruit characters with well integrated spicy oak coming from maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barriques. The wine will repay short to medium term cellaring

    Price:
    $24.00 per bottle
